Why does the host system disk fill up when working with VMWare virtual machines located on a separate disk?

Good everyone!
There is a problem when working with VMWare.

I work under Win10x6421H1, with VMWare WorkStation 16 Pro v.16.1.1 build-17801498. It is installed in the "default" folder, on the system drive C, which has 100GB. (42.5 GB of free space).
RAM 32 GB, paging file fixed - 5 GB.
Virtual machines spin on the H drive. They also have everything fine with the place.

I noticed that the system drive C is filled completely , while the virtual machines are running.
On disk H with space everything is fine.
Closing VMWare does not release the disk, but the space appears after the host is rebooted.
Scanning the disk for busy / free space (FolderInfo program) did not clarify the situation, i.e. it didn't show the folders that populate while working with VMWare.
An Internet search pointed to the VMWareDnD folder, but temporary files should be dropped there when dragging and dropping.

Who faced?

PS I'll try, when the disk is full, restart the VMWare services, without rebooting the host, and look at the result.
PPS Monitored disk space now, when starting machines: free space has decreased. (from 42.5 GB to 41 GB). Shutting down the machines did not free up disk space. Restarting the services also did not free up space.
Only reboot helped, again 42.5 GB.
