Why does js animation change on ios?

I have a js animation implemented via set interval (timeout) which works differently in different browsers. On desktop and android chrome, the animation works correctly, but in safari ios it is many times slower.

Why can this be so? What to look to understand how to fix it?

Try it on an older version of ios
