Where to start the product owner's journey?

Good evening everyone! I had a question about how and where to start my own path as a product owner in a young, dynamically developing company (read: startup). What can you read about all this (both in Russian and in English), what courses would be worth taking, but the most important thing is what, in principle, can be done and how in a situation where there is no product and what to do if you want to be one - do not clear. What functions should he perform?

Usually, you go to support, analytics, sales in some company.
You get to know the product, you get to know the principles of the company, you get to know the customers and their Wishlist.
Then you ask to be a product manager for some direction.

If everything more or less takes off, then you take courses on knowledge of the PM BOOK, and you are a product =)
ps I have not seen a single PM in IT that he did his work somehow clearly according to the instructions, always some kind of improvisation and leapfrog.

Get a job in a specialized organization and see from the inside how it works.
Or make your own product. Solve current issues along the way.
Dry theory will not give you anything.

The product grows from RP (pm), if you were not RP, then it will be difficult to jump over immediately. They have similar roles, but radically different functions.
How to become a RP
1. Technical competencies, understand developer tools, basic database skills and coding experience.
2. One book on scrum and agile, look diagonally at PMbok and read the project management branch on Habré.
3. Elementary psychology, reflection, empathy, communication.
It's all.
Further, only experience.
