How to set System password and Setup password on Dell r420 and r620 servers?
Colleagues, who has Dell servers in the zoo? Need advice.
There is a task to put System password and Security password. The manual says that this functionality is enabled by jumpers. Opened the server, found the right platform with jumpers, found the manual. On the site, contacts 2-4 (Enable password) and 3-5 (Disable password) closed by a jumper.
The manual says, if I understand correctly:
1) remove the jumper 3-5
2) remove the jumper 2-4
3) Then boot into BIOS, set the System and Security passwords in the security section, move the "radio" to Locked, save the settings
4) Turn off the server, put the jumpers in place.
5) PROFIT!!!11
Reality turned out to be different. Saving passes, but passwords do not rise. I tried to update the Life Cycle controller and all hardware firmware, the result is the same.
Please help.

there are 2 rows of pins (6 in total) - one for the password, the other for the bios settings. set the bios settings to 3.1, and the password to 6.4. turn off the server, unplug the power, press the power button a couple of times, plug in the power, turn on the server, go to bios and set everything up there, including passwords.
pin numbering:
6 4 2
5 3 1
