How to change the code of a specific page in Drupal?

there is only page.tpl.php node.tpl.php and that's all but how to get access to other pages? it seems the render function outputs everything but where to find its data?

By default, the logic is such that if there is no template for a specific page, then the general one is taken. The theme developer module will help you create a template for a specific page.
