How do musicians and game developers find each other?
Hello!
I think that among the site visitors there are many people involved in game development. How do you find musical material? Are you interested in the work of musical groups? Or hire a composer on staff?
Are there any forums / sites / groups in the social. networks on this topic?
Let's say I have a band or I write music, where can I find companies that would be interested in cooperation?

No portfolio - no options.
And the portfolio for this direction is your music in 2-3 games.
How to put it there? Only free to negotiate with 1-2 game developers using the GPL, etc.
Those. music for games without games is NOT a PRODUCT!
Those. it's the same as the designer.
Music in games is more than just music.
If you have a bunch of ready-made music - just put it on stock, someone will buy something, but it is unlikely that something serious will come of it, if only by chance.
Usually, the task of a musician in game development is somewhat broader - in addition to writing music directly for the game (you need to capture the mood, set the style, etc.), you also need to do voice acting for special effects. In serious studios, different people are engaged in this, but, I think, the chances of getting into such cooperation without a serious portfolio / acquaintances / some kind of super-divine talents are very close to zero.
Regarding the team - you need to understand that paying for the work of several people is much more expensive than the work of one composer - not all studios can afford to pay for the recording of compositions by some kind of orchestra, this is the lot of AAA studios, or just rare exceptions (usually in the form of a good acquaintance ). The first example of such cooperation that comes to mind is the game The Flame in the Flood and Chuck Ragan, but even here it must be remembered that although the game is positioned as "indie", it is far from ordinary people behind it and it is also difficult to call the budget amateur.
To get started, post your work on soundcloud or similar services and go to thematic game development forums (primarily foreign ones) offering services. For example, look at popular game engines (Unity, Unreal, GameMaker Studio, etc.) - they have a lot of official and non-official forums / communities - throw your suggestions there. Naturally, you can also go to drains (like pond5 and many similar ones). After some time, regular customers will appear and, perhaps, someone will offer permanent cooperation.
As for staff/freelance, the absolute majority of musicians work outside the state (since usually the work of a musician takes much less time than the work of artists/designers/programmers).
It is necessary to light up, in advertising, for example, or somewhere else. Do not be afraid to offer yourself, but in the first place, of course, music.
