Compiz and Fourth Sneakers
Has anyone managed to reconcile them properly?
When I turn on the compiz, dragging windows and changing their sizes starts to get terribly buggy (when you try to do this, the window turns into the devil knows what - it is treated by opening the window). But it's not the case to live like this, so I returned to kwim.
I would still like to use the composite manager for reasons of performance of all sorts of whistleblowers.

Try it with Compiz + Emerald. At one time, this was the only way I was able to do something useful on Kubuntu
Yes, this is how it works for me at the moment. Moreover, I didn’t do anything special for the settings. The easiest way to run it is through fusion-icon.
Gentoo, KDE 4.6.2, Compiz-Fusion 0.8.6 - works together almost flawlessly. Is it not friends with Activities (it seems that in Russian translation it is “Rooms”) and, as always, it is bad friends with virtual desktops. In this regard, I also use KWin.
PS Correction: KWin is also a composite window manager, and its own whistles work quite fast in it, as for me.
