Audio system 2.1 problem with "alien" jack in Windows?

I bought myself a 2.1 Logitech audio system a long time ago. After a while, the wire broke right under the root of the jack, which is inserted into the sound box.
Without hesitation, I cut off the jack from the headphones, twisted it with a wire from the speakers and everything became fine.
It became good in Ubuntu, she regularly played in two speakers and a sub, but the trouble is that if you connect the speakers to a computer under Windows (7), she defines them as headphones and only plays a sub and one speaker.
Hence the questions: Windows determines the type of device by jack? And if so, can it be deceived? Or should it be taken in for repair?

hmm, a regular 3.5mm plug?
it seems to determine by resistance what is connected
, maybe it just shorted in the twist and does not play one channel?
Also, why bother with headphones, you can buy a brand new plug in any radio parts store.

Try in the driver setup snap-in (where the choice of playback devices is) to force the speakers to be selected.

Most likely, it is not even Windows 7 that is to blame, it should not be able to do this, why would it be, but the Realtek sound card drivers. They have an option "auto-detection of device type" which is disabled in the settings.
