What is the reason for the cod in the headphones in the laptop?

The problem of cod in the headphones when connected to a laptop is tormenting. I tried to change the OS to others, the crack does not disappear. I installed different versions of the driver, it did not help either. One day I discovered that if you plug in (take) the Jack of the microphone in parallel, the crack disappears.
How is it interconnected?
Unfortunately, keeping an additional jack nearby is problematic for a temporary solution to the problem.
