Windows 7 quirks?
There is a problem with Windows 7 x64, and I'm already desperate to solve it.
Periodically, when the computer is idle, turned on or just during operation, i.e. without any pattern, stops responding to keyboard and mouse clicks. At the same time, the programs work, nothing hangs, the mouse moves. Those. You can't press any buttons, you can't type anything. As it turned out, this can be treated through ctrl-alt-del and just go back. In the general impression that an invisible application appears on top of the desktop.
Hundreds of hours of googling did not give an answer. According to my guess, this starts some process, service or something else on top of all windows and, accordingly, does not allow you to click anything. Already removed the antivirus, turned off various services.
Please, if there is advice like reinstall Windows, somehow argue it.

Did you look in the windows logs?
Maybe there is an answer to the question
Lord. In Device Manager\Universal Serial Bus Controllers for each "USB Hub" under "Power Management" -> uncheck "ALLOW POWER OFF OF THIS DEVICE TO SAVE POWER".
And you will be happy. Sincerely )
Why reinstall? Look for a left program that does this. I have never encountered this in the standard distribution of Windows 7 of various editions.

Administration - Event Viewer. I usually go there if the bullshit starts to happen. You might find something interesting.
4. If the problem does not go away after all this - make an image of the system disk something like an acronis, install a bare Windows and see if the bug appears there. If it appears, restore the system from the image and try changing the keyboard and mouse to others (the ideal option is to try both PS / 2 and USB, and in all possible combinations).
5. Boot from WinLiveCD and check if the problem pops up there.
6. Boot from Ubuntu Live CD. If the problem repeats there, I will be extremely shocked and ask you to send me this computer for opening (((:
The problem may be in the USB filter driver that comes with the ATi Control Center
I have the same problem on windows 7 x86, there is no ATI control center, my version is a buggy windows update package
Try to install Service Pack 1, it is quite possible that this bug was fixed there
It could be Windows Update. Try to hold the computer without connecting to the Internet and see if there will be the same reaction. If not, then search on Google how to chop BITS
Question one: does Numlock and CapsLock work in these situations?
Question two: does the same thing happen with another keyboard on the same machine?
Not in a virtual machine by any chance :)? And then if from linux to vmware player, then if the Russian layout is on linux, this effect is 100% present :) then you switch to English (in linux) and that's all hockey ...
