So you need to reliably make sure that the lags are due to lack of memory. And you didn't write anything intelligible. What applications do you use? Under what conditions do "lags" occur? In general, what is meant by lags?
But there is one golden rule - there is never too much RAM . If you have money and desire, then why not. Many, many

Performance will be affected by increasing the frequency of the memory. increasing the frequency of the processor, increasing the number of IOPS for the Hard disk (replacement with ssd)
Increasing the RAM will affect the number of active working applications that can run simultaneously.
