Will a 3.5 hard drive work in a box from 2.5

There is an external box for a laptop hard drive. I connect a regular 3.5 SATA hard drive to it, but it does not start - is it supposed to be like this or should the drive start?

We must also not forget that 3.5 "drives often need two power supplies - 5 and 12 volts. Therefore, you can take power from the system unit so as not to suffer (unless, of course, there is a system unit). The
power supply from the tablet is not enough (there is still only 5 volts If you have a soldering iron and sufficient knowledge, then you need to conduct a separate power supply bypassing the stabilizer on the board (usually something like 1117).

will not work, even from two usb 2.0 will not work.
He corny lacks current, in a calm state, large disks eat more amperes, and during the promotion of about 2+ amperes, USB will not give you so much.
all boxes for 3.5hdd with external power supply come. even usb 3.0 won't help here

Most likely not enough voltage.
Try connecting via a double cord (two USB cords go to the PC)

You can't get 12 volts from USB. Solder a separate power supply.
This is me in addition to the fair remark about the lack of amperage.
