Why specify an ad unit when creating a direct sold campaign in admob?

I have added admob ads to my app. Now I want to advertise this application in the same place. I am creating a direct sold campaign, and when creating it, I am prompted to select an ad block. What for? After all, my banner should be displayed in units of other applications?
