Why is RAM not working?

I bought ddr2 Kingston Value RAM KVR800D2N6/2G today, it doesn't work... The computer doesn't start at all with it, the fans just spin. In combination with an old gig die, it emits short beeps.
Proc Core 2 duo 2.6GHz motherboard I don't remember...

For Core 2 Duo based systems, memory support is determined by the chipset. Check your motherboard description to see if such memory is supported.

It is usually written in large letters on the board itself and, in more detail, on the serial number sticker.
