Why is Open Sans rendered blurry?

Hello. Such a problem, this site has a font in the menu , headings, etc. looks soapy. The site is not mine, but a friend's. Font Open Sans from Webfonts.ru.
I want to use the Open Sans font on my site, but I'm afraid that all or most users will see it in the same soapy way. In Photoshop, everything is smooth and beautiful, but I'm afraid of the result after layout under WordPress. How can I fix this or what is the problem?

@fwlt

Fonts have a lot of settings, like hinting and so on. If you embed a font from some web fonts, then you cannot influence these settings in any way, but if you create the font-face yourself, then everything can work out.
Tools like this will help you:
www.fontsquirrel.com/tools/webfont-generator
https://typekit.com
Something already discussed on the toaster: How to set up @font-face?
