Why did the processor frequency drop?

Please tell me what is the reason?
I have been the owner of the ASUS UX32Vd ultrabook for a year and a half.
Everything was great, but at one moment the laptop turned into a calculator. I thought for a long time and wondered what the reason was.
What are your options? Why did everything become so? Both in load and in idle time the same 770-980 MHz.
Windows 10 license. The axis is almost completely empty, there is nothing superfluous
Intel Core i5 3317 U Ivy Bridge.
thanks in advance

Overheating and the software lowers the frequency so that the temperature is within normal limits. In the power settings, set "minimum 100%" when powered by a charger and see.
