Which file system is faster and more compatible?

For two days now I have been thinking about how to format WesternDigital HDD 1TB usb 3.0. I have been waiting for a long time for the release of new macbooks with USB 3.0 support. And that's when I got it I ran into an NTFS problem. I did everything according to the post but there were questions. In some comments I read that this method kills speed ...

What is the best way to format this screw? NTFS, FAT32(64?), HFS+… And how much speed is lost?

I'm going to use it mainly in Mac OS X. But I would also like not to lose compatibility with at least Linux. I store all types of files, from movies, music, books to programs and code. There are very few files > 4GB.

Of course, HFS + is better, but if you plan to use it in conjunction with Win / Lin, then it is better to turn your attention to exFAT. I do this with both flash drives and large screws. But it should be remembered that exFAT is not a journaled file system.

as an option, there is also UDF
AFAIK Win, Linux and MacOS understand it out of the box.

HFS +, nixes work fine with it, and Windows with bootcamp drivers reads (here I can lie, I haven’t seen it for a year and a half)

I agree, I just read the article I just stumbled upon. I will probably do so. Or maybe I'll split it into two parts...

I understand HFS + as more reliable and faster
