What is the best free antivirus for Windows?

Hello. Please tell me which antivirus to choose from the free ones? It is necessary that he does not make a fool of the head of the users. No left windows popped up so that it would not be updated to the new version. This is so that it would not be so that the interface has changed and the person was not afraid. What would catch more viruses. And updated.

There are none in nature.
Often the choice of antivirus depends on the preferences of the user.
On window 7 I use Windows Essentials
On window 10 I use the standard

The standard Windows antivirus is quite ok. There is no silver bullet that will 100% protect against all bullies, the user must understand this.

In addition to the above:
In the browser, block all scripts on untrusted sites (extension like noscript for FF, ScriptSafe for Chrome)

You forgot to specify what class of antivirus you need. There are two large ones - these are "watchmen" and "detectives". The “watchman” checks everything that passes by, but not deep (he will pat his pockets as much as possible), and the “detective” digs deeper, but on a narrower front. The "watchman" must work constantly, and the "detective" is connected as necessary, according to the circumstances that have arisen.
The “watchmen” include almost all well-known free ones, I would recommend Windows Defender, since it is built into the OS and is well integrated with it (loads less), and besides, it is available by default in any Windows starting with W7.
Of the "detectives" I can recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but only versions not newer than 2.2, because in the next versions the authors made it common"
