Gamedev is a regular job, no different from any other development.
Gamedev is a varied job. There may be a dull office where from morning to evening you hack dialogue scripts, or where you alone change the world with minecraft.
There is no middle ground at all. Gamedev on a mobile phone can earn 1 bucks a month, maybe a couple of tens of thousands a month. Maybe a million a month. Might not earn anything.
