What are the options for increasing the Macbook Air 13 drive?
So, there is a MacBook Air 13, 2013 . Everything suits, except for the 128GB SSD hard drive. Why didn't you immediately think of a larger volume? Because it was actually much more expensive.
Task: to expand memory by any means, for widespread work, films + photos + well, and information files.
Write a photo library to the media (now 45Gb) + install large applications (Photoshop for example)
Considered options:
1. USB 2
+ not a big price
+ large volumes
+ compact
- slow write-read speed
2. USB3
+ a little faster than USB3
- large volume - expensive
- not compact (to install in a plug and forget)
3. HDD portable
+ large volumes
- not compact + additional wires
- write-read speed
4. HDD Thunderbolt + USB3
+ write-read speed
- price
- not compact
Who solved the problem with the amount of memory in modern computers?

Do you consider a scattering of SD cards of 64 g each?
Or do you need a lot more?
Even in usb, you can stick small flash drives of 64g each.
usb 3.0 are also small, only expensive stocks.
Well, do not forget that hdd / ssd still live longer than flash drives.
How are options 3 and 4 different? Performance will still rest against the drive. I have an Air with 256 GB. I use an external hard drive (usb 3, 2.5 inches with just one cable) 2 TB. I install programs on the internal disk and store data that I need all the time (iTunes media library, virtual machines, some games from Steam, etc.). Everything else (including the iPhoto library) I store on an external drive. Of the 256 GB, about 50-70 GB are constantly free.
I don't feel any discomfort at all.
I have the same Air, 128GB. At home NAS, available via AFP and SMB, looks like Time Capsule, TM works. I never thought about the fact that there is not enough space on the laptop.
