Then I press Q again to make a selection:

I want to remove the excess, for example with an eraser, this is what happens.

Outside the mask, it is completely erased, and where the mask was, it is also slightly erased. I need to erase only the excess.

You painted the mask with gray color - the mask turned out to be translucent. Draw in black and white.
