Using two RAID arrays on one controller in turn?
Good afternoon.
I have an old server with 4 x 2 TB disks in RAID10, vmware
Can I do the following due to the lack of necessary resources.
1. Pull out all 4 disks.
2. Install new 4 disks for the weekend, create a raid, deploy OS, services, etc. tasks
3. Pull out 4 new disks.
4. Install 4 disks from point 1.
Will the controller remember the old RAID 10? Will these actions destroy it?
Thank you!

raid metadata should be stored on hard drives. if this is the case and the controller can import a new configuration, then most likely yes, it will work,
but if the purpose of such gestures is backup, then it’s better to do it by other means
Pull out the discs and sign them - who was in which basket. Usually controllers can read the metadata and build the array themselves, but it's better to play it safe just in case.
At least LSI controllers can do this for sure, but! It is important to keep order, and it is important to have backups. In general, for a test environment, at the very least it will do, for a combat one - well, it’s not worth it at all. The second nuance is that if the hypervisor is not on an array, it may not appreciate such a feint with its ears and may not recognize old disks.
