Use 3g or wifi[+3g]?

I became the proud owner of an android, although happiness is still limited only to rooms with Wi-Fi, since my 3g operator does not understand.
At the moment I'm thinking about connecting to one of the Big Three operators, it doesn't matter which one - that's not the question.
I have a choice:

  • Use a new SIM card in the phone (i.e. 3g )
  • Buy a portable wifi router and stay with the old SIM card, respectively, receive the Internet through wifi

I read on the Internet that wifi consumes less battery compared to 3g.

What would you choose, %username% and, most importantly, why ?

I would choose a sim card with 3G. Because stupidly more compact. One device is clearly easier to carry.
Then you still have to buy a SIM card, but for a router. Is there a big difference :)
As for the battery, it depends on the region (how often 3G towers are poked). So ask your friends how their 3G phone runs out. Well, in general, an android without 3G is a fan of food)

I sent an operator and chose 3G. I have two phones, android only for the Internet. The boundary is obvious: on the way to work/party/guests/home with 3G full mobility. I don’t use the Internet at home, because I have a laptop, and I don’t see the point in under - Internet at home for 3 ".
But on the street it's an indispensable thing. Do you have Wi-Fi everywhere on the street? I doubt that without 3G you will get another phone. Do you need it?

Definitely a new SIM card with 3g, the router is an additional crap and charging, in general, the android is enough for me for 9 hours of less active use (or more with less active). Skype, mail. web. Google reader, SMS calls, some pictures.

I turn on 3G only if I need to urgently put something from the market or I want to watch a video on YouTube. For mail, jabber and browsing EDGE'a is enough, in general.
