I am studying Upwork, trying to understand the algorithms by which Upwork ranks freelancers and makes recommendations. Upwork support says, work well and you will be happy, but a detailed study of top accounts shows that the reality is far from the words of the support. I noticed a strange thing - among the freelancers recommended to the employer, there are almost no freelancers who have not verified anything. Most have a verified phone, some have a level of language proficiency.
I'm thinking ideally would verify both. Although I may not be able to pull off the English Conventional in the verification process, I don’t know how tough they are with this. And I don't feel sorry for the phone at all. However, I could not find the "Verify Phone" buttons anywhere.

I myself have three hypotheses, one crazier than the other:
1. Those who have verified their identity are given "Phone Verified".
2. Those who filled out a plastic card in the billing method with a phone number are put "Phone Verified".
3. Somewhere there is still a button "Pass phone verification", but I just can't find it.
It seems that reality is somewhere not in the field of my hypotheses .. I wonder where ..
