Good afternoon!
In connection with the suspension of the work of Payoneer cards in Russia, the question of the legal withdrawal of money earned on Upwork is of interest. I want to note right away that the amounts will be relatively small (from $500 to $1000 per month). Similar questions have already been asked ( Working on Upwork in the status of self-employed. Really and ... ), but still, after reading, some questions remained:

1. Do I need to go through currency control if I transfer money through Direct to Local Bank ? If necessary, are any actions required from the freelancer or do all documents need to be provided only after an appeal/call from the bank? Please tell me if anyone had a similar experience
2. If using Direct to Local Bankit is necessary to go through VK, then, maybe, according to the scheme Upwork -> Paypal -> Bank account, it is not necessary to go through it?

Most likely, many freelancers are interested in this question, since few people want to mess with papers.

1. If you want to receive $$, then yes. Currency control must be passed for any such operation, what exactly your bank will require - ask the bank, they sometimes want different things. At a minimum, this is a CBO (certificate of a currency transaction) in which you write where the grandmas come from. It is necessary that what you write there will suit your bank. It will be necessary to fill out most likely for each transfer.
What will happen if you immediately receive rubles to a ruble account - I don’t know, again, the best place to ask is your bank.
2. It will work only if Paypal will transfer rubles to you from an account that is also located in the Russian Federation. I don't know if that's possible.

For 2020 for amounts up to 200,000 rubles. currency control is optional. Over 200,000 rubles. contract must be attached. Therefore, you should not worry.

To use Direct to Local Bank, you only need to select a bank that is not under sanctions. Sberbank and VTB are not suitable. I made a card in mts bank in an hour. Withdrawal less than 6 hours, immediately in rubles. The rate is 5% lower, but does not need to be recalculated for a tax of 6%.
