How to get the first order in the field of layout for a beginner?

Hello, the situation is as follows: I have mastered fixed / adaptive layout (I had experience with Bootstrap, Foundation) I have basic knowledge of JS / jQuery. How to take the first steps in freelancing, how did you start? There is a lot of competition there, and I have no idea how to start, there are examples of work, of course, but they were all made "for myself". And in comparison with experienced users, the preferences of customers fall on them.

In general, register on the exchange, and just take on any job, I don’t advise you to set a minimum price for an order, usually dumping is prohibited on freelance projects, and you don’t need to work for food, respect yourself.
What customers usually go for:
1. Price (Not everyone goes for the minimum price tag, keep this in mind)
2. Deadlines (There are projects where this is the main thing)
3. Portfolio / reviews on the freelance exchange (For some, this is the main criterion)
4. Communication with customer, never write template messages to the customer, do not make your work a chore. Remember to be respectful when communicating.
Since you won’t attract anyone with point 3, you need to focus on 1 and 2, 4, exchange, then place a bid, and immediately write a message to the customer that you are interested in his project, prove to him that he needs to choose you.

Offer your services. Register on which thread of the exchange and try to take orders. Well, or according to acquaintances / friends / colleagues .....

Profile forums, such as maultalk.com and webmasters.ru/forum/, you can create a topic on them and at first lower the cost of work, if you have a portfolio, if not, then it is better to place 1-2 orders per review. In any case, you need a good portfolio. Even on freelance exchanges.
