Ubuntu 11.10 multitouch on dell inspiron n5110
Hello, did anyone manage to set up multitouch on a laptop under ubuntu 11.10?
I can’t find anything ...
vertical and horizontal scroll - work - multitouch - no. In mouse & touchpad settings - only mouse tab, touchpad - no tab.
xinput list
shows:
⎜ ↳ ImPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
But synclient
says
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?
Can anyone help?

I have a similar problem, but even worse - the touchpad is detected as a PS / 2 Generic Mouse.
For your case, there seem to be working solutions, google the psmouse-alps-dkms package - after installing it, everything should work.
And yes, the touchpad is not Synaptics, but Apls.
Your touchpad is not Synaptic.
There were some mystical patches somewhere, I put them on the E4310 - nothing helped. In the end, everything was decided by replacing the laptop with another one.
It was defined in your system in general as a PS / 2 mouse. It may work on older kernels, I remember we fixed a similar problem in 10.10 by rolling back the kernel to the version from 10.04 at the Nino festival.
