Toshiba makes hhd now?
I read various information about toshiba in one it was said that some of the technologies were bought from wd, in another, that only 2 manufacturers remained in 2015. Seagate and W.D.
Here my Seagate 2tb died, I think what to take for a replacement. WD is much more expensive, although I tend to WD more, I don’t want seagate anymore.

Yes, Toshiba makes hard drives. 2.5" for a long time, and 3.5" they got after WD bought HGST, their antitrust commission forced them to sell part of HGST so that there would be more than 2 manufacturers.
At first, Toshiba 3.5" drives were relabeled HGST, but now since last year they have become more like Toshibas.
They are not bad in terms of reliability. At least much better than the Seagate. Saving 10-20 dollars on the purchase of a Seagate can set up a good and sudden pig :)
Here is a beautiful picture from Wikipedia, who bought whom:
it seems there are still

Toshiba bought something there from vd due to the fact that most of the factories they were in Thailand, and there was a flood and the screw market leaned back a few years after it
