Spotlight in OSX - how to search regardless of the layout?

Is it possible to teach Spotlight in OSX (maybe using third-party programs) to search regardless of the layout? That is, for example, if I enter "wum", forgetting to change the layout, so that the search is performed on both "wum" and "dev"?
