Simple solution for SSL?

Tell me the simplest solution for accessing via SSL to all popular resources that are only able to support such a connection.
You need to put on a computer a girl who regularly climbs contacts / Facebook, etc. through open wifi - as a result, hacked pages, mail, spam friends, tears, screams, hysteria. A home computer and a beech seem to be beyond suspicion, unless something especially cunning and elusive sits there.
The first thing that came to my mind was to put Tor, it seems that it encrypts traffic (???), but you can’t really wander with it + it basically goes to the same resource.
In the comments to some entry on Habré, I came across a mention of a plugin either for Fox or for Chrome, with a name like SSL Anywhere (I googled, I did not find an answer).

HTTPS Everywhere for Firefox: www.eff.org/https-everywhere
However, this is not an option. The fact is that Russian services put a big bolt on SSL, even the same Habr, not to mention VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. That is, it is fundamentally impossible for them to write such a plugin. The only way out for your girlfriend is to connect to the Internet through a VPN server. No other way.

Raise a VPN server on one of the trusted (from friends or at home) routers, establish a connection with it and go to the Internet through it, through this VPN channel.
