Saving data in phonegap?

It is required to somehow store data (Articles, preferably in json format) on the phone in the application on phonegap + jquery mobile. (Before that, I did not come across development for android and ios)
What are the ways for this in phonegap? (Google did not give anything concrete. Localstorage, too small)
