Overtime at work for or against?
Hello! Please share your experience.
I have been working as a junior front-end developer for 5 months in a large company. I work in sprints, no one is in a hurry, you can transfer tasks to the next sprint, I always get feedback on issues, good best practices, etc.
At the end of the working day, for some reason, I can’t stop. This is due to the fact that I have an error, or I don’t understand the logic of the program, or Tasks are still hanging. The question is what to do? Just for example at 5 pm close the computer or overtime? The company raises with good work. Overtime has its advantages. But I would also like to develop in additional time, for example, read documentation, learner, books (you don't know js), architecture, patterns, English, webpack, ci, etc...
Therefore, the question is how to be? Stupidly overtime / go to 5 / find a balance. Please help))

Let's start with terminology.
Overtime is work at work outside of school hours, AGREED and approved with the customer. Usually it is paid or compensated.
And the fact that you just stay late at work for personal reasons is just your personal desire.
If you have some kind of problem, no one bothers you to go home, sit down at the computer, and deal with the technology, the problem.
In general, it is extremely useful that you have other hobbies besides development. It is useful both for horizons and for general development.
Gaining knowledge is one thing.
And developing oneself as a reasonable, mentally healthy person is another thing.
This is not reading books on psychology. This is the creation of certain developments, habits that make up your personality. And it all comes with time and practice. That is why you need to spend a decent amount of time on something else besides development.
Therefore:
There is no problem if you are late at work, dealing with technology. Just try not to let it become a lifestyle. If you stay at work for a year and there is no end in sight, stop.
Grow not only in development technology. You need to have some anchors in life, and for this they must become significant for you . This is done in only one way - you need to spend a lot of time on them.
Actually, the main problem of being carried away by one thing is that the further you go, the more difficult it is to get out of the trap on your own. So the simplest advice is not to go too far.
It’s better to keep a balance so that you don’t really have to buy a bunch of drugs at one moment. Besides, once I spent a lot of time on a project, and it died, thanks to good unit=economy. So why plow?)) It is better to reasonably approach your schedule.
If you work without switching and without resting, the quality of work and attitude towards it will become worse over time. When there are no household chores, friends, hobbies - it's bad. Constantly studying and spending all your free time on pumping applied knowledge is also bad. Your whole life is not work, work is one of the less significant parts of it
