Operating systems for NAS - advise
I only know FreeNAS. I would like to know if there are analogues and if so, what is the difference.

Openfiler is practically the same, only based on Linux, and not on fribsd, and there are still a lot of things like LDAP that are not clear why (at least by default) in the NAS.
NexentaStor is almost the same, only based on the Solaris kernel with a gnu environment.
openmediavault is another Linux NAS.
Pulsar-OS - differs in that it is in an alpha version and, as a result, is buggy.
Open-E - I didn’t want to install it, but judging by their website, this is something cool. Probably.
Zentyal is a cool thing, but there is SO MUCH extra ... For example, voip. And a lot more. A lot of things.
Actually, if your equipment is supported by any of these three cores, then by and large there is not much difference. Openfiler is perhaps a little more demanding on resources.
Personally, I would choose openmediavault. it is Linux-based and, as a result, it is more familiar and there is less superfluous compared to openfiler.
In addition, Nexenta is a rather interesting choice, primarily due to zfs support.
And if you want something special - you can take a look at gluster ^^
If I were you, I would first decide what features you need from the NAS and whether you need web management. If this is one or two services, then it may make sense to put one of the debian-based ones you want and raise services on it.
It is possible to install Synology software.

Most of the Linux distributions have not been updated for a hell of a long time, none of them can work with 4k formatting for western trending.
