OLE and not saving a file?

Let's say we start Wordpad, do "insert object", and insert a bmp-picture from a file as a link (that is, linking, not embedding in terms of OLE). We poke on it, Paint is launched. We edit it, it changes in Wordpad. Then we close Paint, it asks to "save changes to the file." We say - "NO"!.. Yes, the file remains old, but, nevertheless, the picture remains changed in Wordpad.
My thoughts on this issue:
- Wordpad, in addition to the link to the file, also stores the .wmf representation of the file, and changes it according to the Paint commands, so whether the file has changed, whether the file has been saved, it generally does not care - what Paint commanded, then and we do.
- But, on the other hand - why can't Paint guess that if the file is not saved - you need to send the original image to WordPad before closing?
- Of course, the original picture must either be remembered (and this requires memory), or re-read before exiting (but another program can already open it, and it will not be possible to read it).
Are there any other reasons?
