On my netbook (branded Quanta UW3) there is a sad RaLink 3090. At first it was not easy with it: the network fell off in Windows, in different Linuxes it did not work at all (kernel panic, despite RaLink's instructions with installing firmware, etc.). Took it under warranty to the service, after which he began to work. Not for long, really. It was cut off forever clearly at the end of the warranty period :).
What can be put in return - so that it is inexpensive, reliable and works both in Windows and Linux (in Backtrack, for example :) and where is it better to order?
