Is it right that the customer does not want to open separate contracts for separate tasks?

Opened a contract for an html task. I did, I tracked the time, the client checked and wrote back what he liked and he still has work for me. When I asked if he would close my task, he said that it was problematic to open new contracts for new tasks each time and offered to track everything in one task (which, in fact, I did, threw off the files and wrote to the Upwork messenger). It seems to me that it is better to close my task that I did and open new ones, as is done in Teamwork (maybe someone worked). Who will be right here?
What if he doesn't like my work later and cancels the task after, say, 20 hours of work?
Or will the bid need to be changed?
We chat on Skype, by the way, mostly
Thank you in advance

Yes, it doesn’t matter, I never open new contracts, it’s more convenient for me to work with one.
if it’s convenient for you to ask the customer for a new one, for me it’s just a waste of time, I always work the same way, so at least one at least ten contracts, everything will be equally average lousy
