"papers are not needed" - this is the soviet topic that you will now be voiced in the answers to this post. Based on 14 years of development experience in various teams, I can say that I have met very few adequate people without papers (maybe I was just unlucky). To be honest, it’s so small that if I were an employer, I wouldn’t waste time on people without papers. This is an extremely unpopular opinion in the CIS countries, but a very popular opinion in the West. The filter in the form of a mandatory bachelor's or master's degree is installed on almost all Western vacancies that can be found on linkdin.

If you are talking about a school certificate, then it can come in handy once in a lifetime - if, when entering a university, you and someone else have the same USE scores.
It's true in vocational schools, they take everyone. What does freelance and so on have to do with it - it's not clear. Go to the upwork even today and work, you need to go there, not checkers.

With good programming skills and normal English, there is no need for paperwork.

All it takes to freelance is brains and a portfolio. Do you think they will ask for a certificate?))
