Is it possible to use an old android phone instead of a microcontroller?

Hello forumites. Is it possible to use a regular phone connected over the network to another android phone instead of arduino, raspberry pi and other analog microcontrollers? That is just two components. One is responsible for the brain of the robot, the other for controlling it. If possible, please explain how to do this, or provide a link to a resource that explains it.
I will be very grateful.

Theoretically possible, but the amount of labor for such a project cannot be estimated.
The phone, as a device, is not designed to drive LEDs. It lacks such an important option as GPIO pins.

Theoretically possible. But theoretically. Depending on what you want to do. If the serial device is on the same processor as the phone and you need a debug board, then you can try. Any phone has processors, which often have unused GPIO lines that can be found on the board and used, and then sawing your firmware / program. But, if there is a desire to save on components for a home robot / weather station, then it is much easier and cheaper to debug boards such as arduino for communicating with sensors and controlling various servos / steppers / lasers / LEDs and typical single-board raspberry / banana / orange computers for smart logic.

The phone has outputs only to headphones and usb (not in all models)

2 channels on sound and up to 13 here.
But this is just a theory. In practice, a kit of optocouplers and a relay will, in my opinion, be more expensive than taking the controller right away. I don’t even voice the costs of writing software.

OF COURSE YOU CAN! There is everything you need for this. OC based on Linux with admin rights will allow you to file any program. If the device is not needed, outdated, then the flag is in your hands - invent it. By the way: there is a set of many built-in systems, such as: GPS, gyroscope, temperature meter (probably), camera, sound recording, etc., etc. ...
