Is it difficult to make a transfer between industries in IT?
Hello everyone)
Once I already asked questions on this site about changing jobs, but I didn’t change it. However, now is the time
. So, I’ll write a little background about myself: I’m 24, I have a total of 2 years of experience in embedded systems (c + python) and two years with unity3d (c#) + python (point cloud processing) just a little, a little neural networks
In the next couple of months I plan ( it is necessary, time is pressing, unfortunately) to change jobs. The soul lies in computer vision and other wonderful ml things, but the threshold for entering there is extremely high (a lot of mathematics + c ++, which I studied only at the university). So I decided to try my hand at backend development. My experience is more of a programmer than a mathematical one, so it seems to me that it will be easier to get there because asynchrony, I touched threads during work, I taught SQL at the university. Probably enough for June.
Actually the question is: is it difficult to switch to the same cv or ml after a couple of years in the backend area? It is very difficult to guess what you will like and want to stay, and what will bother you in the first month. I would like to program the backing and recognize people) But for all this time and professionalism you can hardly save up, alas.
Thus, once again I will voice the question: how difficult is it to make a transfer between back-ml-cv-something else (in fact, only these three directions are of interest) without a significant loss in money (after all, life in ds is not the cheapest)?
It turned out to be a bit long - I'm sorry, just a job change is a rather nervous event)

Well, how do we know if it's difficult for YOU to switch.

There are no laws in the Russian Federation prohibiting changing jobs and professions
That is, today you are a janitor tomorrow a programmer and vice versa
Transfer usually takes one day
It is difficult to make a transfer if you are a specialist.
By making a transfer, you devalue your knowledge and become on a par with yesterday's students.
Nobody hires Java programmers to write PHP. Not because they don't know how to program, but because it takes time to master the tool. A lot of time. Although here you will be assured otherwise.
Given your experience and age, we can say that for you it will be painless.
