Is it better to have one ultrawide monitor or two regular ones?
I'm just learning how to program and understand that I don't have enough space on one monitor. I constantly switch between browser, documentation and Xcode. Now I have a 27 inch BENQ. Here I choose between one ultra-wide or two regular ones. Two of 27 would be very large. If you choose two monitors, then I think two of 24 inches. If you choose one 21:9, then you need 34 inches. On the ultra-wide, everything is on one screen, on the one hand it is more convenient, and on two - two desktops and more order.

I have always liked the setup of one wid in the center and two squares on the sides. But now you can't find square ones anymore :(
two monas are more interesting - an additional desktop is more convenient, you don’t have to constantly put everything in its place (you should also look at the settings in the system, not everything is conveniently configured by default). It is also worth considering the option that one mon can be placed vertically and thereby increase the amount of displayed code
Two separate ones are better.
Sometimes it happens that the second monitor is not needed, and you can simply not turn it on.
Do you have one monitor 27, and you want to replace it with two 24 or one wide? Strange logic, you still won't sell 27 inches for the money you bought, buy another one for 24 to this and enjoy life.
I think that two mons will be much more convenient than one ultra-wide one, because this is the thing for work, you can simultaneously code on one mon, and on the second open, for example, the same search engine or YouTube, and search for the information you need by code for example, you can also open HABR on the 2nd monitor and read the latest news, and at the same time code, another example, if there is not enough space, then the 2nd mon can simply be temporarily removed. And on one ultra-wide monitor, you will divide the screen in half and you can do the same thing that I wrote above, but here it’s better for whom and how convenient and personally for me, when the code is on one screen, and on the other, for example, the same search engine. Of course, this is my subjective opinion and someone is better off with one ultra-wide than 2, but you asked "Which is better?"
I took 2 4K monitors 27 "LG. I set the resolution to native 4K and scaling to 150%. Beauty. There is more space on each monitor than on one FullHD, the text is clear.
In games, the graphics in 4K on such a monitor are much cooler than on FullHD monitor, in some games right at times.
For me, ultra-wide is convenient for the front-end. There are no frames, you can not separate the devtools in the browser into a separate window (so as not to lose the window focus), everything is in sight, and the films are also very cool to watch (because the cinematic format). The only thing that is not so convenient on macos (in my opinion) is to manage windows through the keyboard, and my macbook did not immediately accept such a non-standard resolution, and after sleep mode it sometimes goes into FullHD, you have to pull out and insert the cable. I work quietly on Windows, Win + Left / Right and windows occupy half the screen and easily change focus by Alt + tab.
LG can also divide monitors into two virtual monitors https://www.lg.com/kz/support/product-help/CT20162...
I am for UW. I own 3440*1440 myself.
Windows allows you to dock windows on both sides.
For extra games plus.
