Is it better to buy a used Mac or a new Windows laptop?

Lately I've become very interested in web development (front-end at the moment) and I've also become an issue with choosing a laptop. Tell me, please, what is better to take a used poppy for the web or a new laptop on Windows? Budget 40000r (18000 UAH). Thank you.

The Mac once had the advantage of being more Unix.
Since the advent of the Linux subsystem in Windows 10, the difference is no longer so significant. Unix command line utilities now work fine on Windows.
If the screens and performance are the same, then it is easier to get programs to Windows.

From my experience I can say that the main thing here is the screen size. The whole day to sit and stare at a small screen is not the top, I got tired in 30 minutes, I had to simply look out the window so that my eyes didn’t fall out at all, and for 40k I don’t think that you can find a poppy with a large diagonal.
And yes, if the budget was not limited, then of course poppy, but only with a large diagonal!
Because I remember how I changed Windows to a poppy, the first week was uncomfortable, but then I got only one pleasure during development (well, at that time I was studying, and I continue now, but that’s not the point).
But because of the screen size, I had to additionally acquire a full-fledged computer with a large screen, because my old poppy had already begun to slowly act up, I didn’t want to load it with a separate monitor
If you are ready to sacrifice your eyesight, then take a poppy. If you are ready to sacrifice your nerves, then take Windows)

If you find a macbook pro 17 for that kind of money for that kind of money - consider yourself lucky, they are the most convenient for repairs - nothing is glued, SSD and memory can always be changed by yourself)
For development and work - the poppy axis is 100% convenient....
I have such a poppy, and I dropped it mercilessly, and changed a bunch of everything - and it works perfectly!
Sorry, I don’t know Ukrainian boards, but in MSC this is the first thing that caught my eye https://www.avito.ru/moskva/noutbuki/macbook_pro_1... but it would be necessary newer of course

I think it's best to buy a PC :)

What is the reason for choosing a laptop, and not a hospital? Do you go to offices a lot or code to cafes? 18k is about 700 bucks. For that kind of money from laptops, you can only take what you can, against quite a hospital with a good, quite monik. 200 muzzle, 200 percent, 100 mother, 100 screw, 100 body/keyboard/mouse/ears. It’s quite a developed machine, you can buy a vidyukha already from the first salary)

I've been on Mac for 6 years. A couple of months ago I got a new job, unfortunately there is Windows, and it's terrible. I work 5 times faster on a Mac. Perhaps just a habit.
I don’t recommend taking used Macs, it’s better to download ubuntu

Are you sure the old Mac wasn't dropped?

if you are not going to carry a laptop everywhere with you, look for 17 inches, otherwise 15 is your choice.
PC or Mac, a PC is better suited to your budget, a poppy pro for 40k will not be newer than 11 years old and will soar the brain no less than Windows.

From experience in that department, I can say that poppies break just as easily and fun as any other laptop. Collected all the hodgepodge on Intel, so there is nothing distinctive in the poppy. If you need mobility, then you should take a laptop, but better is a new one and with a guarantee, if you don’t need to walk or not so often, then a hospital, since you can pick up any monitor, and it’s not so difficult to increase the power and it will be cheaper. You can take it without an operating system and get by with a simple tench that can cope with developments no worse than paid analogues

Why Mac or Windows? You can buy a laptop with DOS and install Linux. Ubuntu or Linux Mint, but you never know distributions. For every taste and color.

It seems to me that a new laptop on windows 10, 14-15 inches, with an i7 or i5 processor and 500GB hdd (at least), is better, you can not only work on this.

With your budget, you can buy a decent Windows device:
FullHD 15.6, latest generation core i5 (maybe even i7), nVidia GeForce 940 and higher graphics card, 6-8GB+ RAM, 1TB hard drive, maybe even with ssd.
I think that this power should be enough for the web.
Speaking for the manufacturer, I advise Asus or Dell. Although they say there are worthy Lenovo.
As an example: https://rozetka.com.ua/asus_vivobook_x556uq_dm857t... (although the price is a little more than your budget, but this is just an example).
I myself use a similar Asus model, only the last generation, after 1.5 years of use I have no comments.
Just be sure to take a laptop with a FullHD screen and no less! Normal HD is already the last century, you will regret it, I speak from my own experience.

I solved this problem a couple of months ago. But the weight was still critical for me, so the diagonal is no more than 14.
Dell-transformer, FullHD, SSD, 8Gb, i3, 13.3 inches, Win10. It cost 37 rubles.
Worked at one time in parallel on OS X and Ubuntu. I did not feel any enthusiasm for OSX, compared to Ubuntu. True, I have a backend in the main.

In fact, I would advise saving up and taking a macbook, but a new one, any user who had the opportunity to compare, will no longer return to ordinary laptops, especially on e-ton.ua now there are no discounts.
