In which free vector editor can I draw a pattern for laser cutting material?

Attempts to draw in Inkscape were unsuccessful. For example, I did not manage to enter the exact length of the line in millimeters without taking into account its thickness. If you specify zero thickness, manually entering the length stops working altogether (probably a bug). Cutting lines at the intersection point is inconvenient. Well, and so on. In short, please advise a free editor in which you can draw a pattern in mm?
