How to use hard drive on Macbook Pro?
Hello.
I'm using an old Macbook Pro 2012 and I have a Transcend TS640GSJ25C hard drive formatted in exFAT (2010 release).
With the disk, I got a wire from MiniUSB to two USBs. The wire is very short and the USB inputs are far apart, so I plug one of the USBs into an external battery.
Sometimes I manage to find a combination of ports in which the hard drive works fine. But most often it spontaneously turns off after a few minutes of use. Shutdown is not related to writing or reading files, it also occurs at rest.
1) Why is it shutting down?Does he lack food? This may be due to the fact that the disk is just old, and the wire is not original?
2) Could my Macbook be the problem? Previously, when I used this drive on Windows computers, such problems did not seem to arise. There is no way to test right now.
3) What should I pay attention to when buying a new drive so that it does not have such problems? Do I have to do anything else besides formatting to exFAT to get the disk working properly on OS X? I only need to write and read files, Time Machine is not required.

The problem is that the drive is powered from two different power sources, one of which (the power bank) is not stabilized and gives other power parameters.
This issue occurs because the drive is too old.
New portable HDDs do not require power from two USBs, they have one output, and they have such a problem.
