Why does the laptop see the disk but does not boot (Operating System not found)?
There is a laptop Samsung R525 (NP-R525-JT0ARU) It costs native 7ka The
HDD flies (broken and reassigned sectors).
Bought a new drive (WD5000LPCX).
I tried to clone with Acronix and some other program (not together =)) With a signature change. When booting, the laptop issues Operating System not found.
I tried to install the system from scratch - the installer copies all the files, reboots and .. Operating System not found
Everything is fine from another computer, it will install the system to disk. Connected to the laptop - Operating System not found.
Started from a flash drive - multi-boot for installing different Linux - Yumi, chose to boot from the first hdd - the system starts. In msconfig, the Boot tab is empty =(
I can assume (I want to try) that if you install GRUB, then it will start through it.
What could be the problem?
UPD1: hmm. I inserted a hard one from another laptop with win10 on board. A dozen
UDP2 was launched: win7 rolled onto the target disk through another laptop, everything is fine on it. Installed in the target laptop - the same error!
UPD3: put Ubuntu next to it, i.e. stands in the GRUB bootloader - the same story, the laptop does not see the bootloader at startup. If it starts from a multiboot flash drive and chooses to boot from the HDD, then GRUB starts up and from there Windows / Ubuntu
UPD4: I tried another hard drive but the same model, I immediately began to clean Windows, the same story = ((
I inserted a disk from another company into the laptop, installed OS, everything is fine.
I bought another HDD, Hitachi, everything is fine .. strange

Not from this laptop, but with this new disk the system is loaded?
Yes, I also noticed that all these cloners do not always clone the boot sector correctly. In this case, the launch of one of the boot repair (recovery) utilities helped me in this case. There are many such utilities, there are about a dozen of them in the well-known 2k10 package: FixBoot, BootICE, etc. It is necessary to select the correct type of boot sector from the proposed ones, and the OS start is restored.
All of the above applies only to a disk marked in MBR format. I don’t know and don’t want to know how it is done in GPT, due to the opacity and complexity for a simple user (I’m not a pro), so I prefer to convert such disks to MBR.
You need to delve into the settings of the Boot and Security pages in the BIOS Setup of the glitching computer, and possibly reduce them to the original (factory) settings. It will also be useful to look for the difference in the properties of the target and verification disks: type of layout, file system, active / inactive partition with the OS, and in general, all the differences that the tests will show.
Never heard of such a thing. The entire IT industry has been fighting for unification with terrible force for many years, and some renegades (Sony, Apple) are still forced to return under the wing of standards, since the profit is eventually covered by losses. So most likely you have a special case. But the more interesting it is to find the essence and solution of the problem.
Similar situation! The same laptop and disk are similar.
Laptop: Sumsung NP-R525-JV02RU
Drive: WD5000LPLX
With this hard "Operating system not found.", other norms. The same drive on another laptop works fine.
It turns out that there is incompatibility, the disk cannot be returned now, but something needs to be installed =\
And I have the same rake. The R525 laptop, instead of a dead Toshiba 320 GB, put a WD similar in volume. It is determined in the BIOS that Windows 7 (I also tried Win10) is installed, but after you pull out the installation flash drive, instead of loading, "Operating system not found" is displayed.
In the BIOS, there are at least settings, I tried to turn AHCI on / off, reset the settings - it does not help.
I talked with the Samsung TP - no specifics, in the end they advised me to contact the company center.
I put an old Toshiba HDD - Windows got up without any problems.
