How to turn off automatic naming of iphone when connected to PC?

When connecting an iphone to a windows PC, it is given a name: iphone [current windows user account name]
For example: "iphone John"
1. Is there any way to disable this feature?
2. And what else automatically (that is, without the knowledge of the user, as with the name iphone above) is synchronized when the iphone is connected to the PC? (including through itunes).
