How to run an old game on Windows 10?

Hello !
I upgraded to Windows 10. And a couple of days later, I wanted nostalgia. In short, I downloaded the old spider-man 2 2004. And gives an error:
LockRect Failed: D3DERR_DEVICELOST
UD3DRenderDevice::ReadPixels <-
UD3DRenderDevice::Present <- UGameEngine::Draw <-
UWindowsViewPort::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <-
UGameEngine:Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop
The whole system. But damn, I'm already crying that I can't open it :(

It looks like DirectX top ten is without backwards compatibility or something...
There is a radical solution: VirtualBox and play in a virtual machine if compatibility mode doesn't help.
