Isn't everything so bad in bubunt? I used Debian before, there is a branch of the repository on unstable and that's it, but here it's different chtoli ??? Install Gentoo (from the source anyway :) or Archlinux everything is fine there!

/etc/apt/source.list I don’t remember something, or if you use synaptic or another gui, then uncheck the disks there, you don’t really need them, there are old packages, but you need a new one!

Full sequence of actions
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alexx2000/xfce
gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alexx2000-xfce-maverick.list #in the file, change the words maverick to lucid
gedit /etc/apt/sources.list .d/alexx2000-xfce-maverick.list.save # in the file we change the words maverick to lucid we
climb from synaptic -> settings -> repositories we check in the other software tab so that there are checkmarks over officially unsupported updates, in the Updates tab I have checkmarks everywhere. close the repository settings.
Click "update all packages then, in the search for a synoptic, we drive in xfce. poke in xfce-utils in the menu at the top, click the package -> specify the version, select 4.8. Further, this package will pull the update to version 4.8 of all necessary packages -> we agree and click the apply button, we are waiting and rejoicing.
