Why is it taking so long to open?
Debian 10 xfce. Core i3 3220, 8GB ram DDR3, SSD.
Nice, fast, great.
But - but.
Out of nowhere, the bacchanalia began.
I open Thunar - I wait 30 seconds for it to open. I have so in XP lagged if Windows is not reinstalled for 10 years.
Bullshit war. I go through folders in Thunar once every 100,500 years. Usually in the console laziyu. But a pancake - the browser, and any other application is closely connected with this hogwash. I mean - in the browser I want to make a picture upload - wait half a minute until this file window opens. In general, in any software that calls the file selection window - the same story.
My drive is an SSD. Everything else is flying. How to diagnose? I first sinned on my old HDD, which is attached to the computer. But what the hell - it's not mounted at all! I manually mount it when needed. There's all sorts of rubbish in there. In /etc/fstab it is nem. So most likely the HDD has nothing to do with it.
In short, I don't want to reinstall Linux. Yes, and it's a sin. You know.

For the sake of testing, try creating a new user and run from under it. Will it slow down too?
If not, probably in your user's hamster in the .cache folder his cache could be beaten and it can be safely demolished, but in the .config folder look at the config file and the presence of any flash drives or network resources in it that can also contribute.
