How to install macOS catalina if I have macOS mountain lion?

Hello everyone, I have macos mountain lion, but I can’t upgrade to catalina through the app store, what should I do? How to create an image on this ancient OS. Macbook pro 13 mid 2012. Any help would be appreciated.

That's right, Catalina is the highest version of OS X that can be installed on a Macbook Pro 2012. Probably
two steps:

  1. install any one of Mojave , High Sierra (or very old Sierra, El Capitan) on Mountain Lion
  2. to the one selected above and installed - install Catalina
