How to get files back from a virtual machine?

Need help. Installed VMware Fusion on OS X Yosemite, installed Kali Linux 2.0 there. Today I could not start, I really need to return the files, I need your help. I cleaned the computer and decided at the same time to enable encryption on the poppy and on the virtual machine, I don’t know what specifically affected it, but when I started Kali, VMware gave a message stating that there was no vmdk file in which the description, the logs were unfortunately lost. Perhaps I deleted this file, or perhaps a UFO flew in and took it with it.

Tried different ways. I created another copy of Kali, encrypted it in the same way with the same password as the first one, then transferred the vmdk files from the first copy there, and removed the encryption on these files, but still, when the system starts, it writes an error that the operating system could not be found. Then I tried to merge all the mdk files into one through a new copy of Kali, mounted it via Paragon VMDK Mounter, and checked it with the testdisk utility, but it doesn’t find anything, although if I feed a copy from the second copy of Kali there, it finds the partition table. How to be? files are very necessary, help.

vmdk is a hard disk image file, if it disappeared from the hard disk, it must be restored with special utilities for recovering deleted files, but the success rate is already reduced, since there were numerous entries on the hard disk after deletion.
